Questions
Can I just feed my cat chicken?

Cats are meat eaters, plain and simple. They have to have protein from meat for a strong heart, good vision, and a healthy reproductive system. Cooked beef, chicken, turkey, and small amounts of lean deli meats are a great way to give them that. Raw or spoiled meat could make your cat sick.Jan 16, 2022

Can I feed my cat meat only?

Cats are carnivores and need meat in their diets to survive (sorry vegans, but you can't put your cat on a plant-based diet). Give your kitty some cooked beef, chicken, turkey, even deli meats from your local grocery store. Be careful and don't feed them raw meat, or you could make your cat sick.Mar 18, 2016

Can I feed my cat chicken everyday?

For your pet cat, always ensure that any chicken you feed them is cooked - preferably boiled and does not contain any bones. Remember to include chicken as part of your cat's daily treat allowance, fed in conjunction with a balanced diet. Feeding only cooked chicken long term can lead to nutritional deficiencies.

Where is Dave's Pet food manufactured?

Most of Dave's pet foods are produced in America. However, the tuna blend cat foods are not. They're made in dolphin-free factories in Thailand.Jul 28, 2022

Is 6 oz of wet food enough for a cat?

Most cats need 4-5 ounces of canned food per day, total. Pate-style varieties tend to be higher in calories per can than the varieties that more resemble people food with chunks and gravies- this can be useful when trying to fine-tune the number of calories per day being consumed.

How many times a day should you feed a cat canned food?

But, in general, cats do best when they eat multiple smaller meals throughout the day—two at a minimum, but more might be better. The math that you just performed can help inform your decision. In the example that we've used, the cat should be eating 3 1/3 cans per day.Nov 2, 2018

Should I give my cat canned food everyday?

Cats can and should eat wet food every day because it agrees with the feline digestive system better than dry or semi-moist food. Wild cats hunt and eat bugs, rodents, and small birds.Mar 15, 2022

Should I feed my cat the same wet food everyday?

There is no right answer to this question. As with most aspects of cat care, it depends on the individual. Some cats definitely do better when they eat the same thing every day.May 17, 2013

Why is there no canned cat food anywhere?

There are two main factors that are affecting the current availability of cat food, especially canned food: aluminum shortages and ingredient shortages.May 18, 2022

How often should you change wet cat food?

Even if your cat prefers to eat their food in a few sittings, don't be tempted to leave wet food out all day, as this increases the risk of disease-causing bacteria developing. After a maximum of four hours, throw out the old food and wash the bowl properly with soap and water before refilling with fresh food.

What can I feed a dog with a UTI?

Supplementation with B vitamins and antioxidants in times of stress and offering cooling foods such as raw fruits, vegetables, and yogurt reduce the symptoms of urinary tract infection. Foods that are known to aggravate UTIs include asparagus, spinach, raw carrots, tomatoes, and dairy products.Oct 7, 2020

My vet recommended putting my cats on real food and suggested this one as an option. My vet is very much against kibble, and my cats wouldn't eat the frozen stuff. This they would eat. And for a while I saw improvements in their coats and they seemed very happy to get real food. But my one cat got deathly ill. I took him to the vet and he told me they found a bacteria usually found in birds & poultry. All my cats are indoor. Antibiotics saved him. I decided maybe it was just a one-off, and I would continue using this product but if it happened again that would be the end. Fast forward a few weeks and my other cat is sick after eating it. My guess is that the quality control here is not good. I mean it's pet food so quality standards likely aren't there. Sorry but I'm going to go back to kibble. Not worth the risk of killing my cats. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else's cats but worth considering. I'm sure hot conditions during the summer can certainly be a good breeding place for bacteria even inside the can.

We have an adult male Ragdoll that has had problems since a baby with throwing up his food. Vet visits, trying slow-down bowls, Pepsid, etc. Nothing worked for long. Vet thinks allergy to grains so we tried different grain free foods; we had some success but nothing that stopped the vomiting for very long. I tripped over Dave’s while searching for a new grain-free food. I was a bit thrown off by a review that showed a ‘moldy can’ that had fermented but since most reviews seemed favorable on Amazon-I gave it a shot. We are more than pleased. Dewey the nine year-old Ragdoll now throws up about once a week! The 12 oz. cans of Chicken are CARAGEENAN free (check the can size and flavor as all ARE NOT carageenan free). My goal was to reduce the vomiting episodes but wasn’t willing to use any food that had carageenan as a thickener so this is a double-bonus for me. We only feed the chicken pate but he doesn’t tire of the same flavor; this is another bonus as before he’d get tired of one kind and I’d have to change it, often returning to the vomiting episodes all over again. We love the 12 oz. cans as they are more cost effective than smaller cans for Dew. We’ve been feeding this for almost a year now and can’t believe the difference. I hope this review (and by trying Dave’s food) helps you if your cat throws up a lot as ours did. It’s a DRAG to have to clean up cat puke off the carpet daily and never find a good solution to the problem. It’s helped my Dew immensely and we are really grateful to have found something that he not only likes but is something I can afford to feed him. It’s not the BEST grain-free cat food in the world I’m sure-but I can’t afford a $50-$60 case of cat food either-especially when you consider that he eats wet cat food only. I’ve never been able to feed him dry food as that only makes things worse. It’s the best quality cat food I have found that keeps him happy and healthy and not vomiting. I don’t usually write reviews but in the spirit of helping others with the same MADDENING issue as we had I thought I’d give it a go….

I just realized I have been buying this cat food for 8 years. Time for a review! Why 8 years with the same brand? Many years ago I had a cat die of gum disease. The infection he got in his teeth damaged his organs and there was nothing we could do. After some research we started making sure our regular vet trips included teeth health and we decided to go to a grain free food plan. Grain free food is much more expensive and we have always had 3 cats in the house. We are on a budget so this was a commitment. I tried several brands over about a year. Our criteria was no seafood, good price, reasonable ingredients and of course the cats need to want to eat it. When I wandered onto Dave's I realized the price was pretty low but the ingredients were comparable to several competitive brands. The cat's (all 3! Sometimes Baulder is super picky!), really loved it. I kept ordering. Over the years I occasionally have gotten a can with inconstant texture or larger chunks of chicken in it. It's never been a quality issue to me. I sort of like that I can see that this food is sourced from real food and it isn't absolute paste. I noticed the price has crept up a little over time so I just did a hard dig into price per oz for this, and several other brands I have tried and liked. It is still the lowest cost per oz out there. If I only cared about cost I could get much cheaper cat food but I care about ingredients as well! If I were wealthy I might use one of the other brands with the convenient little shrink wrapped servings. For someone like me who insists on taking excellent care of her animals but needs to pinch pennies, this is a great product and I am happy to have access to it.
