Questions
Why do vets not recommend grain free?

Grain-free dog food does not contain wheat, rice, or other types of grains. Grains are usually substituted for legumes, which could cause dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). When you cut out grains, dogs can miss out on fiber, fatty acids, and protein.

Do vets recommend grain free food?

When it comes to the question of grain-free diets, veterinarians recommended that dogs be fed a grain-inclusive diet unless there is a reason that makes it unsuitable. One thing to always look out for when choosing a food is an adequacy statement on the label.

Does Purina have grain free?

Purina ONE grain free dog food offers wet and dry options with real meat as the first ingredient. Our no-grain dog food is crafted with natural ingredients, with added vitamins, minerals & nutrients and no corn, wheat or soy. It's sure to keep him coming back, meal after meal.

Is grain free food better for dogs?

Grain-free diets replace grains such as rice and corn with potatoes or legumes (beans, peas, and lentils) as a carbohydrate source. No study has ever shown grain-free to be superior to grain-inclusive diets.

Should a cats food be limited?

If your cat is healthy, there is no reason to try to switch to a limited ingredient diet because you think that it might be “better” for them. The nutrients in your cat's food are much more important than the ingredients that provide them.

What is a cat food complement?

Complementary products are foods which, individually, are not sufficient to meet all the nutritional requirements of a dog or cat in a single meal because they have no supplements added.

Can I mix cat foods together?

You can mix things up even more by mixing two or more types of dry food together in the bowl, which also works if you feed dry food only. To maintain freshness, make sure you buy smaller bags of food since you'll be going through them more slowly.

Why is there a Fancy Feast shortage?

“The challenges are caused by a surge in demand over the last 18 months, as well as raw material shortages, including aluminum, which is used to make the cans.”

Is Purina Fancy Feast healthy?

“Plenty of the Fancy Feast are actually quite high in protein and very low in carbohydrates.” This variety pack of protein-rich, meat-in-gravy flavors checks all her boxes and would be a good option for cats who like to mix up their meals.

Is Purina Fancy Feast Made in China?

Fancy Feast is made in the USA to offer 100% complete and balanced nutrition for the healthy growth of cats. The vast majority of ingredients used in Purina products made in the U.S. are sourced here in the U.S. Like other food companies, they do source a limited amount of ingredients from other cou...more.

Purina Fancy Feast Broths Creamy Flavors Adult Wet Cat Food Complement The broth comes shipped simply in a recyclable cardboard box that has product information on the outside. When opening the box, there is an arrow and directions telling you which side to keep up. I thought this was a little different, but for a change, I followed directions. The reason they have you open it a specific way is that inside the box, is a retail style holder to keep your pouches of broth organized on your shelf. That's actually a handy thing, to have them all organized well and not sliding all over the place. The individual pouches have notches to tear the top off so you don't have to get a pair of scissors, but I had a little bit of difficulty with that. While it is easy enough to tear, they don't tear straight, so the top doesn't tear completely off, you end up with the torn-off part hanging off one side. And, if you're as not dexterous as I am, you'll end up pouring the broth over the flopping piece on the end and making a mess. I tried it two times tearing it off open the correct way, according to the package, but both times I ended up making a mess. after the first two times, I just used scissors, and that worked well. As far as the product itself, the cats loved it. We have two cats and a dog, and I don't mind telling you it takes a little bit of dancing around the kitchen to try and open pet food containers for all three of them at once and not trip on the little devils/darlings. If I don't feed all three of them at once, one of them will push the other one off of the food and make a pig of themselves. Well, the cats absolutely love the taste. With the two cats that we have, one usually likes broth, and the other one usually likes chunks. With this product, both cats cleared their own bowl and left nothing for the disappointed dog that came around to check their bowls when hers was empty. So, I have to say the product is a hit with our critters. They like the broth by itself, and if you pour it over a little bit of dry food you'll have cats laying around in a food coma afterward. Happy eating!
Customer says:
Our cats like most can be finicky on occasion so I like to have stuff on hand that is somewhere between a treat and a meal. While I suppose you could go the meal route with these, I'm using them as treats and splitting a packet between two cats along with their dinner. Two of our four cats absolutely love this stuff and it helps me get them to eat their very expensive nutritional food that they're not that happy with. The other two cats sometimes like it and sometimes don't. Cats.

I seem to have acquired a cat that was either left behind when someone moved or it's just a wild cat. I think it's more like a neighborhood cat now, but it comes to my house everyday looking for food. It was so skinny, I felt really bad and just had to start feeding it. He looks like he's getting a bit healthier now that he's getting fed regularly. I call it a he, but I'm not quite sure if it's a male or female. It just looks like a he. I bought dry food and I have been adding half of a pack of this Purina Fancy Feast Broth, and he seems to come around a lot sooner. I guess he can smell it faster when it has a wet topper on it. He eats it so fast, so I know he must really love it. I can't get close enough to him to tell much about his health, but he's looking a lot better than he used to. He's gained quite a bit of weight and doesn't look so frail anymore. These packets are very convenient To use, take up less space in the trash can and than cans, and they're much easier on the environment, as well. I think these Purina Fancy Feast Broths make a great addition to dry food, but they are pretty expensive on here. I would definitely recommend them if you can find them for a really good price.
Customer says:
Miss Picky turned her nose up at this when it was just plain soupy stuff in the bowl, but when I added it to a dryer pate and/or leftover wet that'd been sitting in the bowl for a while, she gobbled up her food with gusto and did a better job of cleaning the bowl. So...win-win in our world, especially when it wasn't so rich she kept it all down. She doesn't like these soupy/mousse like products added to her dry kibble, but definitely an added treat with her wet food and worth a try for those with a picky eater in the household.
Customer says:
My cats go NUTS over these!! One cat doesn't have a great sense of smell (she has chronic respiratory infections) so texture is more her thing. She gobbles these right up - she licks up about 4/5 of a package in one sitting. Admittedly, she eats more of the broth and leaves some of the solids but cat #2 takes care of what's left behind. This first cat is not a big eater (probably because of her lack of sense of smell), she's a pretty lightweight cat because of it. Our other cat is also a rescue, and he has intestinal issues. We think he also has teeth problems because he won't chew his food. He just mouths it and then swallows and he doesn't like wet food for some reason. So we get kitten sized kibble. He surprised us that he LOVED this! He gobbled it 100% up in one sitting, then happily pranced over to the other cat's abandoned bowl to finish that up, too. There is is quite a bit of solid food in these, much more than some other broths we've tried that have a few bits of shredded chicken in them. You do need be careful how you open them. Unfold the base first, to let any trapped food loose. Then shake it gently, while upside down - again to free up any chunks that had been stuck in those folds. Then you can pour it out and know you got 99% of the solids out.
