I was looking to add variety aside from Hills and Royal, and the cat has preferred this for the past 2 months.

Because finding kidney function food for my cat was difficult because the vet and petco and petsmart kept running out I turned to Amazon and bought severel kinds. This one is ok but not my cats favorite. She'll eat part of it but the rest goes to waste. She loves the Icelandic brand way better.
Customer says:
We’ve had multiple cats need a renal diet, and until recently they all preferred RC. Our current CKD kitty has waves of wanting to eat/not eating. In the latest wave of not eating he refused to touch the RC food and even the SD food we tried as a backup. We also tried Purina renal and that was a no go… so our vet recommended we try this as a last resort. He loves it, and so does his brother (who doesn’t need a renal diet). I’ll buy this one until/unless he decides again he’s boycotting food.

Unfortunately, my cat developed chronic kidney disease and needed to go on a low protein diet. She is not happy. But after trying several brands, she seems to tolerate this one the best.

So let me start off by saying my baby has a lot of issues. She as arthritis in nearly every joint, a heart mummer , and early stage kidney disease. She is on pain management and has mobility issues as it is. But that being said, after switching to this food she stopped moving all together. I was worried and took her to her vet after a week because on top of not moving she wasn't really eating. I thought she was sick. Nope. the vet looked at her food and said she needed MORE PROTIEN. Needless to say I was a bit upset. This food was supposed to help. I can't switch her to another food because she will vomit on anything else. So I have no choice but to make this food work. The vet recommended mixing half diet food with her old high protein indoor cat food. I add bottled water (the water in my area is known to make animals sick) and to a full can of the diet and regular food and refrigerate until needed. Portion it out at meal time and heat it up for thirty seconds and she was golden. She is now walking more. She isn't going up the stairs anymore, but at least she isn't protein staved anymore. The vet did say her kidney function improved, but it was upsetting that she got to that point. The vet wants to avoid any supplements if possible so hopefully this is all that is needed in the future.

It has been 5 days and my cat loves this dry food. She is 16 years old. She was diagnosed with kidney disease about 3 months ago, lost a couple of pounds, turns up her nose and walks away from all other dry kidney prescription diet foods and most canned foods. However, her face is plastered to the bowl eating this food. Makes my heart happy to see her eating not coerced. On another note, the Baby Bullet is my best friend and works beautifully to puree/liquefy different canned foods once I figured out what she liked and how to get her to eat it. I add 2 to 5 teaspoons of water to the canned food and it becomes a nice creamy liquid in the Baby Bullet. Just right for her because she does not grab to bite/chew her wet food but licks it. C'est la vie. Looking forward to her feeling better, health improving and gaining weight. She seems stronger to me after 5 days. I've tried a lot of different diets/foods and this works. She likes the 3 Royal Canin prescription renal diet canned food best but I've prepared Blue Wilderness regular food in the Baby Bullet too.
