Questions
Is it OK to give cats wet food everyday?

WET FOOD IS FULL OF FLUIDS Feeding your cat wet food every day in addition to dry food ensures that your cat receives plenty of fluids. This is because fresh animal-based food naturally contains lots of water, which is also a key part of the jelly that binds the pieces together.

When should you stop feeding your cat wet food?

By three to four weeks, kittens can begin eating moistened dry kibble or wet food. Between six and eight weeks, kittens are fully weaned from their mother's milk and can eat dry or wet kitten food.

Why is wet cat food out of stock?

Manufacturers say the shortages are due to pandemic manufacturing shutdowns and a surge in pet adoptions. How often should my cat have wet food?

How often should cats eat wet food? What do vets recommend? Wet food is not a special meal or an occasional treat. Cats can and should eat wet food every day because it agrees with the feline digestive system better than dry or semi-moist food.Mar 15, 2022

Can cats live on dry food only?

"Dry food is fine as long as it is complete and balanced," says Dr. Kallfelz. Dry food may be less expensive than canned cat food and may stay fresher longer. Cats that eat only dry food need to be provided with lots of fresh water, especially if they are prone to developing urinary tract blockages.

Reviews From our Customers
Customer says:
My cat has GI issues and unfortunately won't touch this food. I wish he liked it because it was expensive and seems to be high quality. Ingredients look good, it even smells good. Texture is velvety, almost like mousse. Im shocked he doesn't like. I can't return. Wish company would send a sample size or you could order a small amount to see if your pet likes first. I bought 24 cans for $47! Will be donating to a shelter.

UPDATE: I confirm that this is hit and miss. If you get the actual "made in the USA" canned products, my review below stands; however, on occasion you may get cans that don't say "made in the USA," and they have silver lids rather than gold lids. The texture of the food, the quality of the can, and the smell are all a bit suspect, and I'm not exactly sure what I'm getting. My cats will still eat it, but it definitely seems to be lower quality, and it's almost certainly not made in the US. Took away two stars because of it. This is quality food compared to any super market, Petco, Petsmart, etc. types of food that you will find. This is second only to raw, freeze-dried, and human-grade food. There are no fillers in this product, except for, maybe, agar agar; otherwise, it's completely balanced, and you won't find any grains, legumes, vegetables, or fruits in these cans. Cats are obligate carnivores, and any cat food that contains these ingredients is not 100% optimum, but, as with many things in life, you have to strike a balance. Cats need most of their protein from animals - end of story. When I open these cans (I've tried the chicken and the gamebird), I have to admit that it looks and smells savory enough that I'd want to try. Okay, well, if that's too excessive, I can at least appreciate from the aroma and texture that my felines are going to have quite a feast. They love it.

A little on the pricey side, but the quality is worth it to me.

I love the ingredient list on the Hound and Gatos canned cat food. It's usually worth the extra cost. My cats have sensitive GI tracts and are prone to IBD, which thickeners have been known to cause. Novel proteins, great ingredient list. What's not to like? Quality control problems, that's what. I fed this to my kittens and three of them nearly died from watery diarrhea, which is still ongoing in two of them. I took them to the vet for a full diarrhea panel. It's acting like salmonella but much worse. (I've dealt with salmonella before with my cat and my son in two separate incidents, laboratory confirmed salmonella.) I'm so disappointed in the company's quality control. This is a unique canned cat food. Such a shame really.
Customer says:
Tldr: my cat is a picky eater with a sensitive tummy, but he absolutely loves this recipe, and it is really gentle on his body My cats has had issues hold down his food (poor guy) since i got him last year as a 6 mo kitten. A couple months ago it reached a point where i knew i needed to make a change in his diet with the way he was regurgitating multiple times a week. A mix of dry and wet food has always been the easiest on my budget but after trial and error (portioning out dry food, making it wet, a bland diet) i realized he just isnt properly CHEWING the dry food and we needed to switch to a wet food. I found hounds and gatos on the blog allaboutcats where they do detailed ratings on different cat foods. Not only was i really excited with how affordable this brand is, but i was thrilled with the nutritional quality especially for cats with sensitive tummies!! Although i was scared about the flavor as i had read many reviews explaining how different cats wouldnt touch the food because of the flavor. As i stated in the summary above, we tranistioned him to this as his main food and he adores it. It makes me really happy to be able to give him food he loves and food that is good for him. I cant say enough how awesome this brand is for its price. Wet food is expensive regardless, but this price point is comparable to iams or other poorly rated cat food's but like i said has amazing quality - BRAVO!!
Customer says:
I purchased this flavor of Hound and Gatos wet food because our two older cats LOVED another flavor of it that we had received free as a trial product. Sadly, though, they didn't care for this flavor at all. Also, this flavor is very runny and more of a smooth texture - not at all like typical canned pate-style cat food that has a little gravy and some solid chunks. This might be good food for older cats without teeth - our cats have teeth; they're just very picky.
