Reviews From our Customers
Customer says:
I have a very picky cat who would refuse even some very nice brand cat food. She loves this food! It's a bit more pricey than grocery store brands but less expensive than vet brands. The ingredients are much better than some similarly priced food. We'll definitely continue to buy. Also, the dog likes this brand of dog food too.
Customer says:
The ingredient list is quality. But I could not transition my two cats to it. I have one picky eater and one who usually finishes whatever the picky one leaves. But neither one would eat this.

I could wish for a resealable top.

I got this after switching from it, to a different formula from this same line, and then back. The other one was easier to obtain for one cat, but now that I’m feeding two I needed to easily obtain a larger quantity so I came back to this. Food came as described, and exactly as I remember from the first small bag I got. My cats both eat it readily, and any smelly poop from the kitten from eating only Iams is now gone as he transitions onto eating this with his kitten kibble. I didn’t find any clumps in the food, and it looked and smelled fine. Both the boys happily eat it, so I’ll probably just keep ordering it from here.

10/19 Update: Decided to give Purrfect Bistro Salmon flavor another chance and have been buying it after the Merrick BG1 Chicken brand was finished . My little buddy seems to have grown accustomed to it and is eating normally. Some days he's hungrier than others but overall, he seems to finish up his food every day. I like that he's been healthy going on 7 years and is at a steady eight of 14.9 lbs (yeah, I need to get him back on a diet). But he seems happy and looks great. Thanks Merrick. 02/19 Updated updated review: Guys, I just received a new shipment about a month ago.....i knew right away something was different. The grains are a little lighter in color, a bit larger and softer. Also, when I soak them in water, they definitely get a mushier, creamier consistency than earlier bags (almost like there's an oil or something added). Although this now belnds better with other food i may add to it, my cat is definitely not happy....he eats it in very small portions and leaves a lot behind. I'm not sure how they changed the formula, but I ended uo going back to the Merrick BG brand...unfortunately i can't seem to find the BG2 (salmon) flavor at a price less than $65 a bag, so I ended up buying the BG1 (chicken). If I find out how they changed the formula, I will let you guys know. 12/18UPDATED REVIEW: Well, my buddy definitely likes this as much as his prior brand, BG 2. After a few months of feeding him this, he has definitely lost weight (he was 14.9 lbs, now at a much healthier 13.5). I guess I got used to the vegetable smell when I mix this with water (at least my buddy doesn't mind it in the least...) and I noticed that the slightly larger, softer kibble bits make it much easier for him to chew (prior to using Purrfect Bistro, he would simply swallow the harder, smaller BG2 kibble bits whole without chewing; with Purrfect Bistro, he is definitely chewing them, likely making him feel more full and the food more digestible). So I decided to keep him on Puffect Bistro for good. Hope this review helps others...grain free is definitely the way to go...my buddy looks and feels great and he seems to still have plenty of strength to scratch my furniture and mattress :-( ORIGINAL REVIEW: My cat seems to like this as much as his original Merrick BG #2 brand. And I like the fact that the grains a re a little bit bigger than my other brand. My only issue is that the grains are a bit lighter in texture (which may be good for older cats) and when I mix some of this dry mix with water (my little buddy likes wet and dry food), it has an odd sort of vegetable smell. It's also a bit lighter in color than the original Merrick BG#2 brand. The ingredients look very similar, but the product rep simply says its a newer improved formulation (gee, uh, thanks...). So for me, I really like Merrick in general, but I'm going back to my original Merrick brand when this is completed

This review is for Merrick Real Chicken and Sweet Potato Recipe dry cat food, which is what I received. My cat has been eating this for nine months. He likes the way it tastes, and this food has not caused any health problems. The first few ingredients are good -- deboned chicken, chicken meal and turkey meal. The round food pieces are a quarter of an inch across and they are large enough for my cat to crunch on. The food is easy to digest and it does not make my cat sick. I like how this food contains no fish, no rosemary extract, and no rosemary oil, because some cats are sensitive to rosemary extract and rosemary oil, and some cats are allergic to fish. I also give my cat canned cat food every day, and sometimes he gets homemade cooked chicken. What I don't like about this product is that it contains a lot of potato and pea ingredients, and those are not nourishing. Occasionally you open a bag and the food pieces are extremely small -- much smaller than a quarter of an inch. Sometimes there is a layer of kibble powder and crumbs on the bottom of the bag. If the food pieces are too small, my cat will not eat it. Then I have to throw the bag away. But I keep getting this food because my cat really likes it.
