Questions
Why do vets not recommend grain free dog food?

According to a warning from the Food and Drug Administration released last week, grain-free food might be giving dogs a life-threatening heart problem called dilated cardiomyopathy, or DCM. The science is still preliminary, and it's based on a potential association between diet and heart disease in fewer than 600 dogs.

Is grain free good for dogs?

There are a lot of dog and cat foods sold as grain-free with marketing suggesting that feeding no grains is healthier. This is not true and can, in fact, cause illness for some dogs and cats. There is no medical or physiologic basis to feed dogs or cats a grain-free diet.

Is grain free better or worse?

Grain-free diets replace grains such as rice and corn with potatoes or legumes (beans, peas, and lentils) as a carbohydrate source. No study has ever shown grain-free to be superior to grain-inclusive diets.

What does grain free mean?

Grain-free refers to a pet food recipe has been produced without any grains included in the ingredients. If you select a Fromm formulation that is grain-free, that means the food won't contain any wheat, rice, rye, barley, or oats.

Is it OK to feed cats dry food only?

"Dry food is fine as long as it is complete and balanced," says Dr. Kallfelz. Dry food may be less expensive than canned cat food and may stay fresher longer. Cats that eat only dry food need to be provided with lots of fresh water, especially if they are prone to developing urinary tract blockages.

How often should cats have dry food?

While kittens should be fed up to three times a day, once a cat becomes an adult (at about one year of age) feeding once or twice a day is just fine, says the Cornell Feline Health Center. In fact, feeding just once a day should be acceptable for the majority of cats.

Is it better for cats to eat wet or dry food?

Wet food is more expensive and less easy to use but can be beneficial in cats prone to lower urinary tract disease, constipation and that are overweight. Dry food can be a very efficient way to provide calories in thin cats with food volume limitations and allows for the use of food puzzles and food toy dispensers.

Is free feeding cat good?

Grazing or free feeding is a term, which refers to allowing your cat access to dry food all day, everyday - can severely impact the longevity of their lives. It increases the risk of many health issues such as urinary tract issues, obesity, diabetes, kidney disease, and physiological issues.

What does it mean to free feed a cat?

Free feeding is when you fill a cat bowl and leave it out for your pet, allowing him to eat as much as he chooses when he chooses to. This method works best with dry foods, since they do not spoil as quickly as wet foods.

What is the dry cat food?

Cat kibble is processed dry feline food. It's typically made from ground meat (mostly beef or poultry), dough, cereals, and vegetables, but the exact ingredients vary from brand to brand. Some manufacturers use eggs as the primary protein source instead of meat, while others use meat derivatives as the base.

Customer says:
I think, given this is from Purina (a company I don't necessarily think always produces quality products) that this is pretty decent food. I am always looking for grain free and the fact that this is plus it has pumpkin (which adds fiber and helps cats go) I really like this food. The only problem? My cats think it's so so - but? You know cats. They're so precarious and unpredictable. If they could, they would lounge around and eat Meow Mix all day. Well, instead they lounge around and eat Muse now. I started to add Purina Naturals, which is NOT grain free just because I feel like my cats can get a bit constipated on this stuff. I still think this food is overall pretty good. Personally, I'd like to get my cats to just eat wet but every time I try to take away their dry, they go on a hunger strike. I've been using Muse for about 2 years now and usually buy it at PETCO or PETSMART (I can't remember which) but got this online because I was too lazy to go out. I would recommend this if you want your cats to have a high quality, low carb and fairly natural dry food.

I have 2 Siamese cats and I Only feed them Muse (in both flavors) I also use Purina beyond in the Seafood flavor and mix the 3 together And Both are the picture of Health, Neither cat has ever thrown up and they're coats are Very shiny and there isn't a strong smell when I clean they're litter boxes - bonus! I had cared for a sickly cat prior to getting my 2 Siamese cats which I've had for 2 Years now and the vet had the "sickly " cat on a different brand and he was throwing up quite a bit and had accidents which became a daily basis when he was old, Now I wish that I would have Tried this Brand ( but I thought that the Vet knew what he should eat) I can't say how much I appreciate having 2 Healthy cats after that experience of many years, I will Only use Muse and perhaps the other Purina beyond as they also love the flavors and it's been a real joy caring for and playing with my Beautiful Siamese fur-babies!!!!
Customer says:
I have a very, very picky cat. A kitty who is bottle-fed, so some of you may know what that means. The chicken version of this is the only dry food he will eat. I would have no problem with purchasing the more expensive food, but this is a nice in between. Not the cheap stuff from I would have no problem with purchasing the more expensive food, but this is a nice in between. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive. The ingredients are about as good as you will get for this price point. I have no issues with my fur baby munching on this all day.
Customer says:
When it comes to what's best for my furry son, I research a lot. Especially when it comes to what he'll be eating everyday. He's eaten lots of expensive foods, such as Orijen, Natural Balance, among others but many of those had tons of added vegetables that (In my opinion) cats shouldn't be eating everyday. What I was looking for in a new cat food was 1) grain/corn/by-product free 2) meat first 3) very little to no vegetable/fruit content 4) no potatoes/sweet potatoes. 5) L-Lysine. Muse nailed all of my wishlist and my sweet kitty loves it! Now, before Muse, Purina was on the same level in my mind as Pedigree. I was really pleasantly surprised when I read the ingredients of this bag at my local PetSmart. I've purchased this same formula 3 times now and couldn't be happier. I am finally done trying to find the perfect cat food. The price for the 9 pound bag of this food was $26.99 when I purchased it on 8/8/16 and saved me $6 from the PetSmart price. I'm reviewing this on 9/6/16 and still have half a bag left with 1/2 cup fed daily for one cat. Its a great value and I feel great knowing I'm feeding my furry son good stuff.
Customer says:
Our cats like this very much. Unfortunately it has not been available the last few weeks. Hope to see it back soon.
