Nutri-Cal® Nutri-Cal is a great-tasting, high-calorie supplement for dogs and cats. It helps ensure finicky, debilitated, or aging pets consume enough nutrients. It's also a perfect source of accessible, easy-to-digest calories for working and hunting dogs who need extra fuel.
Nutri-Cal for Cats supports a healthy appetite and provides easy-to-digest calories to pets who are sick, aging or very active. It's also an ideal, calorie-dense weight gainer supplement for cats who are fussy eaters or refusing food.
Recommended Daily Oral Administration. To supplement your cat's caloric or nutritional intake: 1 1/2 tsp per 10 pounds of body weight daily. When your cat in not eating its full ration: 3 tsp (1 TBSP) per 10 pounds of body weight daily.
Nutri-Cal tastes great and has been formulated so that your cat or kitten can easily absorb the nutrients. Our gel formula is easy to dose and administer – following package instructions, simply add the recommended daily dose under the nose or to the paws for your cat to lick off, or put it directly into the mouth.
Is Chicken Safe? Cooked chicken meat in small amounts is perfectly safe for your kitten. Wild cats prey on birds as part of their normal diet, and chicken is generally considered a healthy meat because of its low fat content. To protect your kitten's health, look for chicken that is free of antibiotics and hormones.
Kittens commence the weaning process from about the age of 3-4 weeks. It is from this age, that their little digestive systems are now capable of handling solid foods and they can be introduced to a raw food diet, including raw soft bones such as chicken necks (perfect for growing kittens).
While cats are obligate carnivores, they don't do well with spices or oils. Their sensitive tummies prefer lean, unseasoned, cooked animal protein. That's why you should be feeding them primarily cat food. One safe way to prepare chicken for your cat is to boil it.
Feel free to offer your kitten bits of cooked beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, venison, or other lean meats. Avoid fatty meats, greasy fried meats, or those with salts, nitrates or preservatives. Don't give your kitten hot dogs, bacon, or sausage as these will upset her digestive system; potentially causing diarrhea.
If you find that your rice is too dry and a little hard, you can add more water and leave the rice on warm for 5-10 minutes. If your rice is too mushy, well that sucks because you'll need to start over and decrease the amount of water.
Cover tightly and heat over low heat, for about 5 minutes. If there still are clumps, stir softly and occasionally to break them up. Remove from heat when steamed and heated through. Using a lid over low heat helps to create steam, which will moisturize the rice until it gets back that fluffy texture.
Prior to milling, the rice is steeped under pressure in order to transfer all the vitamins and minerals from the bran layers to the kernel itself. Once done, the rice is steamed, dried, and then milled. Rice that has already been milled can be submersed in a vitamin and mineral bath that coats the grains.
Drying the freshly cooked rice by spreading it on a tray and putting it under a fan for one hour does the trick. Kenji's recommends this method (even more than day old rice!) If you don't have an hour to wait, you can spread still hot rice on a tray and let the surface moisture evaporate.
