Reviews From our Customers
Customer says:
Sometimes my cats really love this and eat it immediately, but other times they only sniff it and sense that something is off and won’t eat it at all. Sometimes my cats eat it with no problems, and sometimes it makes them throw up (they never throw up from eating any other food and only once in a blue moon have hair balls because they’re groomed). After a while, I realized the problems. 1) The flavors: Both of my cats really dislike the yellow pouch (pumpkin lickin chicken) and the green pouch (chick magnet). They will never eat these. 2) The quality: The quality of the product varies from pouch to pouch in the same box in a number of ways. Sometimes the meat looks like quality little pieces of fish or beef or duck, other times there are large noticeable pieces of fat and bones and random portions of whatever animal was put into the product. This problem seems common in the red pouch (mack, jack, and sam) which often contains various shapes and sizes of bones, fatty or maybe skin end pieces of presumably fish, sometimes there are entire chunks of fat ranging from the size of a penny to a quarter, and on one occasion there was a hard little rock or piece of metal and on another occasion there was some sort of plastic or metal wire string. The food can either look actually pretty good or absolutely disgusting. The chicken is always terrible and stringy and smells awful. I have easily opened over 100 pouches of this food and the chicken has never looked decent and my cats have never eaten it. This is why, as I said above, my cats will never eat the yellow pouch or the green pouch. Occasionally, depending on the quality of the duck, they will eat the purple pouch (love me tender) which has chicken and duck. However, they will leave all the little stringy bits of chicken behind in their bowls, which is very unlike them because they have been lifelong members of the clean plate club. 3) The consistency: There are two issues with the consistency of this product. Sometimes there is a good proportion of broth to meat, other times it’s almost entirely just liquid or dry pieces of meat. It’s as if there is no quality control that decides what proportion of food to broth goes in each pouch. The other issue I find incredibly revolting!! Sometimes when you open and pour out a pouch, the food looks normal like broth with meat as expected; it’s thin broth with a dark, semi-translucent color and normal shades of brown meat. Other times, the broth is a cloudy white, very thick liquid that is disconcerting, and it coats the meat so you can’t even tell what the meat looks like. It looks like gelatinous sludge and is frequently murky or grainy seeming, not a clean white color. The cloudy broth problem happens most commonly with the red pouch and the blue pouch (1 if by land, 2 if by sea). I’ve checked for expiration dates, and the cloudy ones are supposedly still good, but definitely aren’t. My cats will not eat the cloudy food and paw at the ground indicating trash or waste or poop, but otherwise they love the red pouch if it’s normal. However, the red pouch is what makes them throw up. Typically, if the red pouch is normal, my cats will eat about half of it, then walk away and vomit all of the undigested food. It’s peculiar because if the red pouch looks normal, it’s their favorite flavor and they are eager to eat it, but sometimes it makes them immediately sick. The yellow pouch is consistently always the worst and doesn’t even have real broth, I have no idea what it is, because the liquid is neon yellow and as thin as water with stringy white pieces of potentially chicken. This is particularly strange because apparently the yellow pouch is chicken in pumpkin soup, but the orange pouch (pumpkin jack splash) is tuna in pumpkin soup and it looks nothing like the yellow pouch soup. The orange pouch has regular brownish slightly orange broth, and the yellow pouch has neon yellow oily water. Aside from occasionally containing large and uncut pieces of tuna that I need to rip into smaller pieces or one of my cats can’t eat it and struggles and the other cat tries to eat it and chokes, the orange pouch is usually the safest bet. The entire experience has been unfortunate because this is my cats’ favorite food when it’s normal. But it’s so commonly off and has random, repulsive qualities that I can’t deal with it anymore. My cats are disappointed when I feed them a different food, but I’m tired of throwing out and wasting the bad quality pouches, cutting up their meat, removing bones and fat and garbage, adding water because it’s dry, and cleaning up vomit. We are just going to have to move on.
Customer says:
A great option to try the multiple flavors offered by the brand. However, it’s not the cheapest option out there for the product. My cat is already a huge fan. If it were up to him he would eat them all immediately, with exploding enthusiasm.
Customer says:
too much broth.
Customer says:
Love this food easy pouch just slides out no fillers just meat and gravy.
Customer says:
My picky senior cat with kidney issues will eat any flavor of this food. It’s high-quality, and the chicken flavors are compatible with his dietary needs right now. There are so many flavor options it really helps with cats who get sick of one kind of food quickly.
Customer says:
I've tried other Weruva varieties but this is the only one he likes. He won't ANY other brand of cat food, I've tried them all.
