No diet for older felines has proven itself like Wysong Geriatrx cat food. It was created by Dr. Wysong and owes its popularity solely to veterinary recommendation and word of mouth. Geriatrx healthy cat food has been fed to tens of thousands of felines through multiple generations for over thirty years. Remarkable results include long-standing robust vitality and long life. This improved formulation is designed to take advantage of new processing methods to preserve natural value, and nutritional advances in epigenetics and nutrigenomics. Geriatrx is higher in meats, organs, protein, fat, and contains a comprehensive spectrum and higher levels of micronutrients/nutraceuticals including prebiotics, probiotics, enzymes, omega-3s, antioxidants and more. Small quantities of fruits and vegetables mimic what may be consumed in the viscera of prey, and contribute important vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other nutrients. Premium high quality nutrition is extremely important with aging digestion, physiology, and immune function. For best results, rotate Geriatrx with fresh foods, Wysong TNT raw cat foods, and other premium dry and canned Wysong diets.

Questions
Is it OK to feed cats dry food only?

"Dry food is fine as long as it is complete and balanced," says Dr. Kallfelz. Dry food may be less expensive than canned cat food and may stay fresher longer. Cats that eat only dry food need to be provided with lots of fresh water, especially if they are prone to developing urinary tract blockages.

Is a dry food only diet good for cats?

1) As obligate carnivores, cats cannot thrive on dietary carbohydrates, and canned diets are low-carb compared with kibble. Therefore, dry diets are more likely to lead to obesity and diabetes mellitus (DM), two common and important feline health problems.Aug 22, 2019

Can cats live long on dry food?

Some cats can live on dry food only. But most of the time they are overweight and/or chronically dehydrated. Overweight cats are at high risk for health issues, and they also live shorter lives. You should not be asking “can cats live on dry food only”.Sep 29, 2020

Do cats need wet food everyday?

Cats can and should eat wet food every day because it agrees with the feline digestive system better than dry or semi-moist food. Wild cats hunt and eat bugs, rodents, and small birds.Mar 15, 2022

Can cats survive on cat food alone?

The average cat can technically survive for one to two weeks without food if they have a water supply. However, without protein, it may be more like three to four days, even if they have enough water. With no water or food, it is unlikely that a cat would survive longer than three days.

How many times do you feed a senior cat?

"From age six months to maturity, most cats will do well when fed two times a day." Once the cat becomes an adult, at about one year, feeding once or twice a day is appropriate in most cases. Senior cats, age seven and above, should maintain the same feeding regimen.

What is the best thing to feed a senior cat?

Raw or “gently cooked” fresh food is an excellent diet for elderly cats. Dr. Becker recommends that if it is impossible to feed raw that dehydrated or freeze-dried balanced food reconstituted with plenty of water is good second choice. However, feeding an all dry-food diet in the long run will cause problems.

How much food should a senior cat eat a day?

Most senior cats will have about the same caloric needs as an adult cat—roughly 280 to 360 daily calories depending on the normal lean weight—as long as they are healthy.

Do cats need more food as they get older?

As your cat gets older, they no longer get as much exercise and their metabolism slows down. They therefore require less calories and you will need to feed them less food in terms of portion size.

Is it better to feed cats wet or dry?

Wet food is more expensive and less easy to use but can be beneficial in cats prone to lower urinary tract disease, constipation and that are overweight. Dry food can be a very efficient way to provide calories in thin cats with food volume limitations and allows for the use of food puzzles and food toy dispensers.Sep 9, 2019

Does cat formula have to be refrigerated?

Once opened, kitten milk replacement formula (canned or powdered) must be refrigerated promptly and stored in the refrigerator. You cannot keep opened kitten milk replacement formula out of the refrigerator for very long before it spoils. Think of it as fresh milk.

How do I add moisture to cat kibble?

Just take about a ¼ cup of filtered water and add it to the top of the bowl of kibble in order to moisten and enhance the flavor of the pet food. Cats often stand to benefit the most from doing this, as they frequently have issues with dehydration.Oct 8, 2014

Customer says:
Roxy is a sassy 18 yo., she is one of two pets who are in their late age, the other is Belle. a domestic and very vocal lady turning 16 yo in May. Roxy was happy with her previous food (Solid Gold) until I discovered Wysong in my search for a product for Belle’s health condition. In my profession, one makes an informed decision before making any change - fortunately for me, my brother is also a veterinarian. There is no question that the ingredients are of good quality, the crude protein % is high, this is very important. I was careful in the transition to prevent upsetting Roxy’s stomach, to the extent of using a scale. This went very smoothly for her. Of course, all this would be for nothing if Roxy didn’t touch the food. There was no problem there. I wish Roxy loves the variety of Wysong wet food the same but she would only eat the Epigen Salmon, so that’s all I am ordering that way she and Luna (canine) get the same.

One has renal issues, that has recently decided she doesn’t like her RX food anymore. Like not at ALL! Royal Canin Renal support isn’t cheap either!! Have been feeding Wysong Geriatrix to my other super senior cats and the one on the RX diet LOVES this stuff! Can’t keep her away from it. I have to run it by the vet but, first ingredient is chicken meal. For those of us that don’t understand what that means: it is deboned chicken meat. Only the good stuff. It doesn’t make her vomit, she seems to be doing better… may have to mix this in with her RX food. As long as she is eating!! I will update later once I run it by the Dr. next week. P.S. WAS feeding all my cats Blue Buffalo until I found out that it was causing urinary crystals. Urinary Crystals has ultimately led me here to renal failure. Isn’t that grand?!?? After several trips to the vet, and thousands of dollars later; went on a mad scramble to find the best food for senior cats and landed here. Since the Pandemic has wiped out supplies of Royal Canin Senior and/or made it so expensive no one can afford it, decided to try this. Glad I did because kibbles are small enough for cats that have missing teeth, problems chewing, etc., absolutely no vomiting from any of them. They still get their daily wet food (with extra water added) to encourage moisture but, I use the Wysong kibbles as a snack in-between meals. Everyone is doing great!
Customer says:
I’ve purchased Wysong brand food before. Mostly Vitality but it got too expensive for my budget fostering unwanted or stray cats. Today I only care for 2 senior cats I’ve adopted and want to give them the best quality food and care. I highly recommend the Wysong brand for it quality ingredients.
Customer says:
Love that we found something she will eat and within her diet. Thank you!
Customer says:
My 18 year old Kitty I was beginning to show signs of kidney issues. My vet put her on prescription food, which she refused to eat and resulted in her losing more weight. I did a little research, discovered this brand and bought a bag. She absolutely loves it.
Customer says:
We switched to this food after one of my cats started getting UTIs and was diagnosed with the beginning stages of renal and liver failure. She eats it, but my other cat will only eat it if she is really hungry. I haven’t noticed anything different since we switched. I hope she gets less UTIs in the long run
