Questions
What is the best food to feed my cat?

Meat. Cats are meat eaters, plain and simple. They have to have protein from meat for a strong heart, good vision, and a healthy reproductive system. Cooked beef, chicken, turkey, and small amounts of lean deli meats are a great way to give them that.Jan 16, 2022

Is it OK to feed cats dry food only?

"Dry food is fine as long as it is complete and balanced," says Dr. Kallfelz. Dry food may be less expensive than canned cat food and may stay fresher longer. Cats that eat only dry food need to be provided with lots of fresh water, especially if they are prone to developing urinary tract blockages.

How often should cats have dry food?

"From age six months to maturity, most cats will do well when fed two times a day." Once the cat becomes an adult, at about one year, feeding once or twice a day is appropriate in most cases. Senior cats, age seven and above, should maintain the same feeding regimen.

How often should you feed an indoor cat?

Cats should eat at least two meals each day, about 12 hours apart. But a breakfast, lunch, afternoon, dinner, and right before bed schedule is an equally great option. If more than 12 hours elapses between meals, the stomach can become hyperacidic causing nausea.

What can I feed my cat instead of cat food?

Many cats enjoy cooked grains with a smaller texture, like couscous, polenta and millet. Vegetables – Small amounts of finely cut, microwaved, steamed or boiled carrots, peas, green beans, broccoli, asparagus, pumpkin, squash and spinach are all okay to feed your cat on occasion.Apr 29, 2020

What is different about vitamin A in cats compared to dogs?

Vitamin A plays a very important role in maintaining the health of the eyes, skin and other tissues within the body. Dogs can convert beta carotene into vitamin A within their bodies. Cats cannot. Therefore, cats require a preformed source of vitamin A in their diets.Feb 29, 2012

How much should adult cats eat?

An adult cat requires about 25 calories per pound of body weight. An 8 oz cup of dry food averages in at about 500 calories. So, if we estimate that the average ten-pound cat needs about 250 calories per day, the average cat will need about 1/3 – 1/2 of a cup of food, maybe less if your cat is particularly lazy.Aug 22, 2022

What is an essential nutrient in cats but not dogs?

Some of the most important vitamins for the proper health of cats are vitamins E, A, C, D, B2, B6, B12 and folic acid. Vitamin A is necessary for eye, skin and other tissue health. Unlike dogs who can convert beta carotene into vitamin A, cats require a constant source of vitamin A, from sources such as liver.Sep 29, 2019

Is an essential nutrient in a cat's diet but not an essential nutrient for dogs?

Taurine is an amino acid that is essential for cats but non-essential for dogs. Cats that don't get enough taurine in their diets can eventually become blind, deaf and develop heart failure. Taurine deficiency is now almost exclusively diagnosed in cats that eat something other than a well-balanced cat food.Feb 29, 2012

Is 1/3 cup enough for a cat?

If the cat owner is feeding a good quality dry food, that has a good quality protein, then the indoor cat needs only approximately 1/3 to 1/2 cup of food each day.

What are the nutritional requirements for a cat?

Cats are obligate carnivores, which means that they rely on nutrients found only in animal products. Is half a cup of food enough for a kitten?

Often, young kittens may eat ¼ to ½ cup of food at a time. If your kitten is thin, we may need to increase the caloric requirement per day. If your kitten is gaining too much weight too quickly, we may need to cut back. Your veterinarian will use a tool called a body condition score to assess your kitten's weight.Feb 11, 2021

Reviews From our Customers
Customer says:
I’d like to have my boys on a quality dry cat food with high protein and low carb that’s affordable. This seemed to be it! Both boys have sensitivities to certain ingredients. Although they don’t appear to be reacting badly to the food (no puking, no bad stools, etc.), they don’t love it as much as I was hoping. I still mix it in with their old food (I didn’t have them completely switched over yet) and the food does get eaten. But again, was hoping they would like the taste more. I’ll have to keep researching and find something else, I guess. Not sure if I will keep mixing this in after the bag I have is gone. Hopefully you have better luck with your cat(s) liking the taste.

I previously had a different Wysong food that my cat didn't seem to like. But this one, she seems to love! It doesn't have an overbearing 'pet food smell', and the ingredients really are pretty amazing, especially for the price.
Customer says:
We've had a cat for nine years. We've had two dogs simultaneously during our cats life. How do we know this is good food? SIMPLE - our dogs poops. Thats correct, our DOGS poop. Our dog eats farm fresh raw food. When she poops, its little sort of nuggets that barely have a smell. NOT the giant mound of squishy yucky-ness that stinks from bad food. She is a 60 pound Golden Retriever. Very regular. Very Healthy. A couple months ago, she snuck into the cats dry food bowl and determined that sneaking in a bit of royal canin cat food here and there is ok - it's not. How did we know that she was doing this? Because her poops turned into those giant mounds of stinky squishy yucky-ness. We were very very VERY mad at Royal Canin after seeing this. We were shocked and upset, that after all our research, we thought we were feeding the cat the best. We've already lost one dog due to cancer that is caused by most store bought foods (another reason we are pay so much attention this time, like a ridiculous amount of attention). We thought, we can not reverse the damage that may already be there, but we can surely try to stop adding to it. We researched the heck out of THIS food. The cat (pure bred ragdoll - indoors 100%) loves it. As an experiment, we sort of allowed the dog to sneak in to the cats food bowl again. But guess what? She didn't have the giant mounds of yucky-ness that takes a week to clear! She had about 10% more poops and it cleared in ONE DAY. Thank you for making a truly great product. Seriously, Thank you very much.
